How does the licensing work? D1 Underground has you on record once you register. This license is good for life as long as you comply with the terms and conditions of being a D1 Underground driver. In order to obtain a D1GP USA Pro license, you can do one of two things. 1) You can enter a D1GP USA Pre Qualifier or “Drivers Search” and hope to advance to the Pro Qualifying rounds or 2) You can enter a D1 Underground event, place 1st – 4th thus earning the right to skip Pre-Qualifying “Drivers Search” and immediately enter Pro Qualifying. Once you enter Pro Qualifying you are still D1 Underground licensed, however it is only at a D1GP USA event Pro Qualifying session where you can earn a D1GP USA Pro license. At this point one of three things can happen. 1) A driver may not advance to the Championship Points Series rounds (top 30) and may not earn a D1GP USA Pro license. 2) A Driver may not advance but earn his D1GP USA Pro license (meaning the D1GP USA Competition Director felt that while a driver did not advance, the driver showed the skill level to be a D1GP USA Professionally licensed driver) or a Driver may advance to the Championship Points Series rounds and in this case, everyone who makes it to these rounds become D1GP USA Pro licensed.
What if I do not earn my D1GP USA Pro license at a D1GP USA event? You can continue to enter D1GP USA Pro events. You will not be required to attend a D1 Underground event again to place and re-enter.
